She was in a rollover car crash, and while the car was rolling she was thrown out. The baby was beyond help by the time we were called to respond. Unfortunately, this baby was beyond help вЂ“ that was the most devastating part of it. When I looked at this baby, it looked just like the mannequin and thatвЂ™s what I had to do when I was on this call. You go through training for baby CPR and stuff like that with mannequins, and you pray to God that you never have to use those skills. The baby was blue, unresponsive, and cold вЂ“ it was horrible. Hours and hours went by where dad was sleeping. He rolled on top of the baby and the baby suffocated. What happened was Dad fell asleep in bed with the baby. We responded to an unresponsive 3-week-old. Our baby was, I think, less than a year old. I was actually working with my husband at the time. Some of the things sheвЂ™s seen are pretty traumatizing. The driver of the car survived, and surprisingly, so did the turtle.ДЄnd then there are a lot of situations where first responders show up, and thereвЂ™s nothing they can do. That вЂњsomethingвЂќ was still inside the car. When they arrived, they discovered that something had crashed through the windshield of the car and hit the driver in the head. In Port Orange, Florida, paramedics were called to the scene of a car accident on Interstate 95. Sometimes, they arrive on scene and find a situation that they never expected to see. EMTs and other first responders see a lot of things.
